Sick Leave

- Employees are entitled to paid sick leave earned at the rate of one day for each month of employment, up to twelve days per year.
- After one year of employment, Employees shall be entitled to a total of twelve additional days of sick leave as of the beginning of their second year and each following year of employment up to a maximum accumulation of sixty sick leave days.
- Pay for sick leave shall be at an Employee’s regular pay.
- Employees must notify their supervisor at least one hour before the start of their shift if they are going to be absent due to illness.
- After seven days, an Employee who is sick or disabled and is entitled to disability payments from the 1199 National Benefit Fund, shall be paid sick leave pay according to a schedule printed in the contract, provided the Employee has sick days in his/her sick leave reserve bank.
- Employees are entitled to use their sick leave reserve bank to add to their worker’s compensation payments in order to equal their regular day’s pay.
- Employees are entitled to use up to three days of their sick leave reserve bank for family illness.
