1199SEIU Delegates in Massachusetts Attend Swearing In Ceremony

On July 23, hundreds of 1199SEIU delegates from across Massachusetts gathered at the Union Hall in Dorchester for a special swearing in ceremony.
The event kicked off with a video highlighting our accomplishments over the last three years. Afterwards, 1199SEIU Secretary-Treasurer Maria Castaneda delivered remarks to the audience about the importance of being a delegate.
George Gresham, 1199SEIU president, also commented on the special role that delegates play in our facilities and districts.
“You are a symbol of the strength our members believe in,” George told the crowd.
Denise Lecheries, a personal care attendant, thought George’s words were very motivating.
“Our president, George Gresham, lifted our spirits with his sense of humor and emphasized the importance of the commitment and hard work of being a delegate,” she said.
After the delegates were sworn in, delegates signed up for the 10-2-10 mobilization to Washington D.C. (onenationworkingtogether.org), and a reception was held.
