We build political strength in order to fight for a better life for our members, our families and our patients.

1199SEIU members work hard to care for patients and build the best lives possible for working families. Through massive volunteer efforts and member contributions to our Martin Luther King, Jr. Political Action Fund, 1199SEIU members work toward a government that puts the priorities of working families first.

We have built a record of many important political victories that protect the health and well-being of patients across the Northeast:

• Saving billions of dollars in healthcare fundingthat have kept hospitals, nursing homes and clinics open and serving our communities,
• Bringing a living wageto home attendants and low-paid workers in New York City, Suffolk County and other areas.
• Securing historic lawsto protect healthcare workers and patients – like Safe Needles and Whistleblower protections.
