Freedom to Unionize

The right of employees to join a union is a fundamental one, recognized throughout the world by institutions ranging from the Roman Catholic Church to the United Nations. Those who are denied this liberty are denied the opportunity to have a role in determining the basic terms and conditions of their employment. Unions have been and continue to be an integral part of the fabric of America, and particularly, in the healthcare community.

While U.S. law guarantees the right of workers to choose a union, the reality is that current legal protections are poorly enforced. 1199SEIU has a history of fighting for stronger legislation that protects the right of employees to organize without interference or intimidation from the employer. Take action to help restore the freedom to unionize.
