There are many things I’m thankful for this year--my wife’s health as she is a cancer survivor for six years now, my kids’ health and, nope, they haven’t had H1N1 or the seasonal flu yet. All three of my kids made high honors in school, Very important items to be thankful for, for sure.
On a political note, however, I’m unusually thankful for one huge success in our Congressional district here in New York’s 23rd district. For the first time in 150 years, we have a Democrat congressman representing us and for that, I am thankful and proud of my fellow community members for their great judgment in support of our candidate and thankful for the support of my union in getting a pro-working family congressman elected. If you didn’t get it the first time, here it is again: 1199 and SEIU played a deciding role in getting a Democrat congressman elected to New York’s 23rd congressional district for the first time in 150 years!
This year, I’m thankful for being a part of the boldest, most progressive and successful purple labor movement in the history of organized labor. Happy thanksgiving to my 1199SEIU family and best wishes for a safe and blessed New Year from the Sullivans of Plattsburgh, New York, located in the 23rd congressional district!
