iSpeak: Afghanistan

President Obama and his advisors are thinking through what we should do in Afghanistan, taking into account the corrupt and nearly non-existent government there, that country’s history as “the Graveyard of Empires”, his top general’s request for 40,000 more troops, and the economic and human costs of the war. What do you think we should do?

I do not agree that we give another penny to this country. They hate the USA. People here are suffering too much--no jobs, losing their homes, etc. A lot of families are losing their children in that war.

Afghanistan is a very serious issue. President Obama has a highly qualified team who will make, I believe, the right decision.

As a healthcare related union, I think we have to concentrate more on the problems concerning the industry.

We should get out as quickly and safely for our troops as possible. It’s time they fend for themselves. Let go of the politics and protect our interests at home.
